This is a walking route to Fatlips Castle.

Fatlips Castle which stands on the highest point of Minto Crags was built as a 16th Century pele-tower. Its commanding position meant it was difficult to assault.  Fatlips Castle is located 6 miles north east of Hawick. This walking route starts just off the B6405 at Barnhills Farm and passes through Barnshill Tower and Penielheugh. This route compromises of hard tarmac surfaces as well as woodland and farmland.

Lovely route if you’re looking for a short walk with beautiful views of the surrounding area from the top. Can easily extend the route if you like by starting from Denholm and walking from there.

Short walk through woodland from the road, lay-bys for parking space. A great hike and amazing views at the summit

If you know of a great trail around Hawick, why not share it with others by adding it to the Town of 1000 Trails?
