Wauchope Forest is 18 miles south of Hawick. This is a out and back walking route rising up forest tracks through Wauchope Forest onto open moorland and ascending to commanding views at the summit of Peel Fell. This vantage point gives you undisturbed views across the English-Scottish border to the hills of the Lake District hills from one of the highest summits in the area. Following the ridge line crossing peat bog (not for the inexperienced).
Taking a detour from the ridge line following the border fence-line takes you to the iconic Keilder Stone. From here you retrace your steps back to the starting point of the route.
