Ninestone Rig and Will's Bothy

A walk along the Waverley Railway line taking in a nine stone circle and bothy on route.

Whitrope Railway Siding is 5 miles south of Hawick on the road to Newcastleton. Parking can be found at the railway heritage centre car park.

This walk follows the old track bed of the Waverley line to Riccarton Junction, but takes you to two points of interest. Firstly the nine standing stones at Ninestone Rig that overlooks Hertmitage Castle. Retrace your steps onto Will’s Bothy on the right of the old railway line, before Riccarton Junction which lies 1 mile further up the line.

If you know of a great trail around Hawick, why not share it with others by adding it to the Town of 1000 Trails?
